Since 2014, MCAT has focused on an Innovation “Pillar” approach to develop and grow public transportation in Manatee County. The Innovation “Pillars” approach utilizes innovative concepts in three areas: Infrastructure: Bus Stop Upgrades, Transfer Center Refurbishments and New Bus Buys. Technology: Automatic Passenger Counters, Interactive Voice Messaging, Mobile Ticketing App, CAD/AVL/MyStop App/On-Board Infotainment System, Shared plan/pay/ride App with Moovit and Digital Advertisement Demo Project. Service: Service Optimization and Expansion, Service Innovations, Travel Training, Mobility On-Demand Services and Frequency Improvements.
