Parks & Beaches
When people dream about lounging on a beach in perfect weather, they’re dreaming about Sarasota County. It’s a place filled with sunshine and year-long outdoor activities. Beautiful weather and white sand beaches, Sarasota County is a magical place for those who love to feel the sunshine on their faces.
Called the Suncoast for a Reason
Florida’s West Coast is perfect for life outdoors. Yes, the summers are warm, but our beaches are beautiful and our winter months are picturesque. With an average 255 days of sunshine a year, you’ll find that your lifestyle spills effortlessly into outdoor spaces, all year long.
It doesn’t get cold here in Sarasota. 72˚F is the average temperature in this part of the country. Perfect for a day out on the boat, the trails or the golf course. And if it ever rains, it’s never for more than an hour or two.
Sarasota County is home to award-winning white sand beaches. With six islands lining its extensive coastline, each with its own personality, you can find plenty of recreational options for you and the family.
Siesta Beach is rated the #1 beach in the US for its brilliantly white, sugar-fine crystal sand consisting of 99% pure quartz.
In addition, enjoy the sun and sand on Sarasota’s many other beach destinations including Longboat Key, Lido Key, Manasota Key, Casey Key, and Venice beaches. Check out Visit Sarasota County’s Sarasota Area Beaches Guide.

It’s easy to enjoy native wildlife in any of greater Sarasota County’s many parks. Whether you love bird watching, alligator observing, hiking, biking or water sports, there are over 120 parks and trails in Sarasota County encompassing over 3,000 acres.
One favorite is the Legacy Trail, an ever-expanding recreational walking and biking trail that stretches over ten miles. A regional backbone of recreational and nature-based activity, the trail connects communities across Sarasota County and stretches into neighboring Charlotte County.
Right off the Legacy Trail is Venice Area Beautification Inc’s Urban Forest. Founded in 2018, the 2 mile long, man-made forest will be home to thousands of trees and species of animals, including migrating birds. Watch as the 5 year project comes to life and enjoy the forest right in the heart of Venice.
Myakka State Park’s 60 square miles make it one of the largest parks in the state offering plenty of room to bike, kayak and hike.
Marie Selby Botanical Gardens is a respected leader in the study and conservation of plants. The urban bay-front oasis showcases a living collection of rare and beautiful tropical plants.
