An Extension of the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, the UF Innovation Station Sarasota County is driving regional economic development by connecting local industry with the University of Florida’s Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering resources – talent, research expertise and capabilities.
DESCRIPTION
The UF Innovation Station Sarasota County (UFIS-SC) is the first physical extension of the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering in Florida. Designed to provide access to unique and high-value UF resources, the UFIS-SC establishes and grows partnerships with the private, academic, and public sectors in the region with a focus on growing the region’s innovation economy.
IMPACTS ON THE INNOVATION ECONOMY
The UFIS-Sarasota County makes an economic impact on the region by providing a pipeline of engineering talent and technology to serve the region, supporting the creation of new startup companies, providing access to unique R&D talent and infrastructure, and supporting the development of an educated workforce to serve the innovation economy. The UFIS-Sarasota County impacts future generations of Floridians through public-private partnerships that build pathways to success from K-12 through high-tech careers. The partnership provides new opportunities for bright young minds to craft lifetime opportunities, and then serve as role models for future generations.
