During the Board of County Commissioners meeting on Wednesday October 7, 2020, the commission voted unanimously to support awarding PGT Innovations an $129,000 economic development incentive for relocating WinDoor operations to Sarasota County.

PGT Innovations acquired Orlando-based WinDoor in late 2015. WinDoor operates under the PGT Innovations brand and will be relocating operations to the PGT Innovations headquarters in Venice, Florida. The expansion plans include the reconfiguration of existing 90,000 square feet as well as the construction of an additional 15,000 square feet at the PGT facility. The buildout and equipment reflect a $1,700,000 million capital investment into our community.

Most notably the expansion will create 167 quality, family-supporting, and resilient jobs ranging from upper management to production. PGT Innovations offers robust employee benefits ranging from onsite childcare, onsite healthcare, tuition reimbursement, and employee stock buying options to name a few.

“We are thankful to the Sarasota County Commissioners for their unwavering commitment to economic development,” said Jeff Jackson, President and CEO of PGT Innovations. “As the largest private sector employer in Sarasota County, incentive dollars will allow us to hire even more talented individuals from our community to help our organization thrive. Since we started this company 40 years ago, Sarasota County has been an incredible partner in our journey and we’re proud to be able to give back by continuing to provide business opportunities, great careers, and innovative products that keep our area residents safe.”

Commission Chair Mike Moran stated after the motion was approved, “Congratulations to PGT and WinDoor. We welcome new residents relocating from Orlando and are excited for the residents of Sarasota County for the employment opportunities”.

“This is outstanding news for our business community”, stated Destin Wells, VP of Business Development Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County.
