Economic Development Foundation of Sarasota County
The Economic Development Foundation of Sarasota County is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that supports the work of the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County (EDC). The initial focus of the Foundation is to build entrepreneurial capacity in the region to advance the EDC’s strategic plan.
Initiatives that may be pursued for funding and support include:
• Creation of an incubator or innovation center to nurture startup companies
• Providing educational opportunities for entrepreneurs
• Mentoring and coaching entrepreneurs
• Providing networking opportunities for entrepreneurs
• Creating venture and angel capital funds
• Supporting an Economic Gardening program for CEOs of second-stage companies
• Expanding access to research and technology within the region
• Facilitating technology transfer from the laboratory to the marketplace
