MobileBits Expands by Adding 40 New Jobs in Sarasota County

September 2013

SARASOTA, Fla. (Sept. 23, 2013) Sarasota-based MobileBits Corporation is planning to expand operations at its current facility at IntegraClick Business Center, 5901 N. Honore Ave.

MobileBits, a technology company that operates a mobile marketing and shopping application called Samy, is planning to expand its operations by 2,000 square feet, and create 40 new jobs over three years.

"MobileBits chose to stay and expand in Sarasota because compared to other regions that support technology companies, the Sarasota area offers a superior active lifestyle at a much lower cost of living", according to Walter Kostiuk, CEO & President.

“It is our hope that MobileBits will help fuel the growing technology ecosystem of Sarasota, making this area an attractive place for young, educated professionals to consider when beginning their careers,” Kostiuk said. He added that "receiving a performance-based incentive grant from Sarasota County was another important factor".

“Sarasota County is happy to support businesses who provide jobs and add to the diversity in our community,” said Sarasota County Commission Chairman Carolyn Mason. “MobileBits is creating the types of jobs we want in our community and this makes us more attractive to other companies.”

Samy is an award-winning mobile marketing and engagement network that helps merchants, retailers and brands connect with consumers in their local area. The Samy solution provides businesses with a complete set of tools to create and manage mobile campaigns, deals, offers, loyalty and rewards to a subscribed mobile consumer.

The mobile space plays an enormous role in the marketing of any business today. As mobile smartphones from manufacturers like Apple and Google continue to expand into the hands of more consumers, retailers are wanting to connect with them. Samy provides a compelling opportunity for a business to market its products and services to a captive audience, which drives enormous performance for each Samy merchant partner.

As part of its expansion, MobileBits will be looking for sales, marketing and customer service professionals as well as software developers to help support growth of its business. The additional resources will be used to market, sell, support and deliver Samy around the world.

The Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County helped the company obtain a local performance-based incentive grant from Sarasota County. The company will get a total incentive of $120,000 over the life of the grant period to help create new jobs for young professionals in Sarasota.

“We were thrilled to be able to help a successful technology company such as MobileBits stay and thrive in Sarasota,” said Mark Huey, President and CEO of the EDC. “These are the types of jobs that will help drive the economic future of Sarasota County.”
